Originally
any investigation into discovering truth fell under the subject of
philosophy. However, through the years
the sciences grew to be concerned a separate, distinct field. This web
page discusses how such changes took place—at least from a western
civilization bias. We start with the
Greeks and their approach to problem solving, move to the natural
philosophers, and finally touch on mathematics and the developments in the
19th century. |
